Well, since there are no posts here, I decided to get the ball rolling.
Are there any Chrysler Charger owners or enthusiasts out there? That’s not a typo. I’m referring to the Australian built Chrysler Charger built in response to the Falcon GT during the late sixties and early seventies.
I always though the E-49 was the coolest version: http://www.fastlane.com.au/Features/Charger_history.htm
It came with a Hemi slant six that put out over 300 horsepower , but only 149 were built. The Falcon GT's came with 351 Clevelands which had about the same horsepower rating.
The other Charger models were okay, but they didn’t look as cool .
I think the Charger is made buy Dodge not Chrysler, and yes they are different. Dodge is part of the Chrysler company but they are 2 different manufacturers, Chrysler has never had a car named Charger atleast not in the USA, Australian made I'm not sure of....never heard of or seen one.

I see that you’re a Chevy owner, do you like the Holden Monaro? Or, have you not heard of that one either? The early models from 1968 & 1969 came with American built Chevy 327 and 350 smallblocks; the same kind of engine that both your Monte Carlo and El Camino have.
Here’s a link describing the history: http://www.users.senet.com.au/~vita...denframeset.htm
The Monaro was also built in response to the Falcon GT.
Enjoy,

Wasn't saying you was wrong. Didn't mean to hurt your feelings
I was merely stating that I hadn't heard of it, I was actually shocked when I DID check out the link you posted. I never knew these cars existed! So if my ignorance offends YOU, then I apologize. I'm in the USA so I don't really even care about the aussie cars. But you can kiss off with your rudeness!
Sorry, I didn’t mean to come off sounding rude.
Also, I’ve never been to Australia. I’ve lived in Virginia (near Washington, DC) all my life. I’ve been a big fan of Aussie Muscle Cars for four years now, so big that I actually imported two Falcon GT’s a couple of years ago.
It made me angry that the Big Three never offered these cars for sale in the US. , so I always go out of my way to let others know about them.
I ain't mad at ya!
So you collect Aussie cars a bit? Sounds like a cool hobby to me. I collect USA cars lol, sorta. I buy and fix them up then resell them. No hard feelings here. Have fun, drive fast!
Hi sorry but i rekon i shuld butt in here, living in the greatest country on earth. AUSTRALIA.
but any way,
1) aussie cars rule, u hav the monaro in america pontiac bought the US production rights but due to the modifications they made they changed the name to GTO. so all those nice pontiac GTO's in ur country r sort of Ausstralian (even the new gayer version that was released a couple years ago)
2) altho or cars rule, i luv American muscle cars one day hoping to own a cuda
3) australia has just inroduced a new (horrible) legislation, ppl under the age of 20 (p (p=provisional) plate drivers) cannot drive cars with eitha 8 cylinders or more, superchargers or turbochargers (diesel exempt), or high performance engins. this means that im not allowed to get most muscle cars. im not sure whether the good ol chrysler charger is covered though.
the chrysler charger was the fastest production car built by australia back in the time (13.8s for the quart, 0-60mph in 6.2 sec)
I've got a friend who's Austrailian (met him at a summer camp, cool guy.)
we got to talking cars and he got to naming ones that I'd never even heard of until I got home and googled 'em (The Chrysler Charger was one). Life must be interesting on the other side of the world (and 14 hours ahead of me).
He never said anything about us taking ya'll's cars though
yeh our cars rule, we have Holden which us Fords main rival in australia.
altho 1 thing we dont have is Dodge, Pontiac, Plymouth, or Cadilac these companies couldnt cut it and bowed out in the late 70's and early 90's. sadly now we are over run by japanese manufacturers who sre starting to die with Daewoo leaving a cuople of months ago and companies like suzuki and nissan making their last attempts to stay in the market.
altho our muscle cars are clearly better and faster, one day i want an Impala
any1 wanna mail me 1 for my birthday
As a fellow Aussie (actually pronounced Ozzie okay?), I hereby apologise for Ausnics shocking spelling......good lord man, use spell check or something, this is not some import site, we have all finished school here mate!
PS: My stepdaughter wants a Charger soooo bad, after all my work driving her around in Trans am's and GTO's and she goes to Mopar..........better than Chebby though
